The Institute for High Frequency & Communication Technology (IHCT) at the University of Wuppertal proudly announces two major awards received at this year’s European Microwave Week (EuMW 2025) in Utrecht, in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics (IHP).

EuMIC Prize
“A 320 GHz 32×32 Pixel Near-Field Sensor SoC for Real-Time Imaging in 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS”
Hamadi Sadkaoui, Philipp Hillger, Janusz Grzyb, Xinpeng Du, Marcel Andree, Holger Rücker, Ullrich R. Pfeiffer

EuMC Young Engineer Prize
“A J-Band Low-Noise Amplifier with 100+ GHz 3-dB Bandwidth in a 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS Technology”
Arjith Chandra-Prabhu, Janusz Grzyb, Marcel Andree, Zhichu Cao, Holger Rücker, Ullrich R. Pfeiffer

In addition, Prof. Ullrich R. Pfeiffer gave a EuMIC keynote titled “Next-Gen Terahertz SoCs: Light-Field Imaging and Scalable Incoherent Architectures.”
His talk addressed current challenges in bridging the THz gap and presented new concepts in coherent and incoherent THz System-on-Chip architectures for future applications in high-speed communications, imaging, and sensing.

These recognitions highlight the IHCT team’s continued excellence and innovation in terahertz research and SiGe BiCMOS circuit design, reinforcing the University of Wuppertal’s leading role in advancing next-generation THz technologies.
